CSN Stores Product Review: NordicWare Danish Ebelskiver

So I settled on a NordicWare Danish Ebelskiver ($27.99+shipping), the item that I always wanted but couldn't justify buying out of pocket, when I got an offer from CSN Stores to do a review of one of their products. We got it last night from Cookware.com, and I was ready to use it in the morning. It was extremely easy to use and clean-up, and I was impressed with my first-time efforts.

The instructions recommend washing with hot soapy water before the first use. Here it is on my gas range. I used medium setting for the gas. It has seven receptacles to make the puffs. It is about 9 1/2 inches in diameter and light weight. I love non-stick cooking although my husband is a die hard cast iron fan.

Very important - the outside instructions on the package don't mention this, but the inside instructions do. You have to put a little pat of butter on the bottom of each bowl. This makes turning over very easy.

I used pancake batter and decided to drop chocolate chips in the center of each. I had to work fast because by the time I finished filling the 7th bowl with batter, the first one was almost set and the chips wouldn't sink very far. Instead of chocolate, you can also put jelly, ham, sausage, you name it!

I used a plastic fork to turnover each puff. This helps prevent scratching of the pan. It was very easy to push one side in and the whole puff tips over.

Yum, a whole plateful of delicious puffs. My husband said I should have put less chocolate chips in, but I think the chocolate is supposed to ooze out. I should put more in next time!!

The NordicWare Danish Ebelskiver is currently $27.99 + shipping at Cookware.com, and they have a cool feature of "seen it for less?" if you have seen a lower price elsewhere. They will review your request and "make you an offer." I am waiting to hear back from lower price request I made last night for another product. I highly recommend this product. The only thing is that the puffs get eaten so quickly and they are not very substantial (are pancakes ever substantial?) so you would have to designate a puff maker to feed a larger crowd of 4-6.
